SUMMER HOURS MEMORIAL WEEKEND - LABOR DAY WEEKEND
9:00 AM FOR SUNDAY SCHOOL~ WORSHIP AT 10:00 AM About Our ChurchUPVPC is a multi-generational body of believers committed to loving one another as Christ has loved us. We look forward to meeting together on Sunday mornings for Christian education and worship. Our Sunday School hour finds people of all ages learning the Bible in a way that suits them best. Classes for preschoolers, K-2nd graders, 3-4th graders, and 5-8th grades are age-appropriate and focused on teaching God's work in the world of the Bible and the world today. Our youth are discipled with solid, age-appropriate Bible study on Sunday mornings and are gathered for small groups and fellowship several times each month. Adults are challenged to study the Scriptures and encourage one another as Christ's ambassadors through a wide variety of stimulating Sunday school classes and evening Bible studies. Guests are always enthusiastically welcomed! Adult students range in age from 18 to those in their 90's! Immediately following the Christian education hour, we gather the church together for worship; Our worship is the glue that holds us together. We worship in a traditional church setting, yet God calls us to worship in a variety of styles. Our hymnal "Worship & Rejoice" gives us a musical variety that reflects the diversity of ages in our church family. Our choir meets on Wednesday nights to prepare music to lead the church in worship. If you want to know what's going on, feel free to e- mail us with your address and we'll send our most recent newsletter to you, or simply check out the news here on the site to see what's coming up. We are expectant that God will continue to grow our church as we are faithful to study & teach his Word, to reach out to those in need, and to care for one another with compassion and joy. |
Our Ministry GoalsSince we confess Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord and believe him to be the Son of God who reconciled us to God through his death and resurrection, we believe in response to his sacrifice for us, it is the mission of the Upper Path Valley Presbyterian Church to:
Exalt God through corporate and individual prayer and worship.
Express love and concern for each other as members of the Body of Christ.
Strengthen the faith & commitment of each member through teaching and preaching in homes and church.
Witness, by the power of the Holy Spirit, to our children, to our community, & throughout the world to those who have not yet received Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
Give our money and our service in the name, love, and power of Christ to those with physical, emotional, social, economic & spiritual needs. |
Church HistoryThe Upper Path Valley Presbyterian Church was founded in 1766, ten years before the Declaration of Independence was signed! The original log cabin church, located in what is now the cemetery, was replaced in 1816 with a stone church. In 1856 that building was replaced with what is now our brick sanctuary. We are blessed with eight beautiful memorial stained glass windows that surround us as we worship. An extensive Christian education wing was built and dedicated in 1958. The church has always had a strong commitment to the truth of Scripture, to living as Jesus taught us to live, and to giving ourselves away in mission. One of the ways we raise money for missions is our annual Turkey Supper & Bazaar served on the Saturday just prior to Thanksgiving each year. Over 800 people come from miles around to enjoy a great meal of roasted turkey, mashed potatoes, and our famous homemade noodles & baked apples. We've been holding this supper for as long as anyone can remember. No one goes home hungry! |
